DIGITECH Project Unveils Comprehensive Roadmap to Bridge Digital Skills Gaps in Central Asia and the Caucasus

The DIGITECH Erasmus+ project has reached a pivotal milestone with the completion of its Work Package 2 (WP2) needs analysis. This extensive study identifies the specific digital competencies required to modernize higher education across six partner universities in Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Georgia.

By synthesizing data from student surveys, faculty questionnaires, and employer focus groups, the DIGITECH consortium has mapped the "Day-1" requirements graduates need to succeed in the modern labor market. These findings serve as the blueprint for upcoming capacity-building activities, where European partner universities will deliver tailored training programs to address these critical gaps.

The Needs Analysis Report is structured into three key pillars:

  1. Cross-University Findings: A synthesis of shared digital skill shortages across the region.
  2. Institutional Deep-Dives: Individual reports from each partner university, applying a localized lens to the data.
  3. Methodological Framework: A robust skills taxonomy and triangulation approach that ensured high-quality, actionable data.

The DIGITECH project continues its mission to foster digital transformation and enhance the quality of higher education through international cooperation.

"This analysis isn't just about identifying what is missing; it’s about building a bridge between academia and the workforce," said Aida Tologonova, vice Project Coordinator. "The results will directly shape our curriculum reforms, ensuring that our students are equipped with the exact digital tools employers are looking for today."
